POTATO, HAM and CHEESE BAKE
Preheat oven Electric 180 C/Fan 160 C, Gas 4

- 30 x 20 cm dish, buttered

Ingredients
- 25 g butter
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large onion
- 250 g cooked ham
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1.5 kg potatoes
- 9 floz double cream
- 2 garlic cloves
- 100 g cheese
- Salt & pepper
Instructions
- Peel and dice onion
- Cut ham into 1 cm pieces
- Chop parsley
- Peel and thinly slice potatoes
- Grate cheese
- Peel and slice garlic
- Melt butter with oil in frying an.
- Add onion and cook for 5-6 mins
- Add ham and parsley, mix well and remove from heat
- Put cream and garlic into pan and heat very gently to just below boiling point.
- Season
- Pour 3 tbsp of cream mixture into the bottom of the buttered dish
- Arrange a layer of thinly sliced potatoes in the base of the dish
- Put 2-3 tbsp of ham mixture over and a little grated cheese
- Add another layer of potatoes and cream and continue until all ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of potatoes and sprinkling of cheese.
- Cover and bake for 40 mins, remove foil and cook for further 40 mins until potatoes are tender
