SHORTBREAD BISCUITS

Preheat oven Electric 180 C/Fan 160 C, Gas 4

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • sieve
  • Baking trays lined with greaseproof paper

Ingredients

  • 300 g butter 10½ oz
  • 120 g icing sugar 4 oz
  • 150 g custard powder 5 oz
  • 280 g plain flour 10 oz
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Instructions

  • Sieve icing sugar, flour and custard powder together. Mix well
  • Add butter and vanilla essence
  • Rub in butter – can use a mixer
  • Mix to a smooth dough – you might need to add a little milk if it is too dry
  • Shape into balls
  • Press down with a fork
  • Bake for approx. 10 mins
  • Store in air tight tin
