APPLE, PEAR AND CHERRY COMPOTE

Equipment

  • chopping board & knife
  • jug
  • pan with lid

Ingredients

  • 4 eating apples
  • 2 medium Bramley apples
  • 4 firm pears
  • 3 tbsp sugar or to taste
  • 140 g dried sour cherries or cranberries

Instructions

  • Peel, core and cut apples into chunks
  • Peel and thickly slice pears
  • Put apples and pears into pan with sugar and scant 30ml water
  • Cover and gently cook for 15 mins, keep checking.
  • Bramley should collapse to a puree and the eating apple and pear should be tender.
  • Add the cherries/cranberries and stir in, more sugar might be needed
  • Cool and store in the fridge

Notes

Keeps in the fridge for up to 5 days, lovely as a dessert with vanilla yogurt or ice cream or ideal for breakfast
